Brakes
The brake system of a freight wagon is a safety-critical core component that ensures smooth and secure operation in rail freight transport. This seminar provides a detailed introduction to the technical components, functionality, and interaction of the individual parts.
Training contents:
- Physical fundamentals of freight wagon braking – Force transmission, braking effect, and deceleration in railway operations.
- Function and operation of the air brake – Control, air distribution, and brake activation.
- Main components of the pneumatic system – Structure and function of brake valves, air reservoirs, and control lines.
- The triple pressure principle – How control pressure, main line pressure, and cylinder pressure influence braking force.
- Mechanical components and their interrelation – Brake rigging, brake shoes, disc brakes, and their role in the overall system.
- Common faults and defects – Identifying wear, material fatigue, and functional issues.
- Brake markings and their significance – Key markings for safe operation and maintenance.
Through hands-on application directly on the freight wagon, participants learn how the individual components interact, which testing methods are used, and how potential sources of error can be identified and rectified.
Register now and deepen your knowledge of the structure and function of the freight wagon brake system!
In addition to a detailed theoretical introduction, the training includes 40% practical exercises directly on various freight wagons.
Additonal or different topics are possible by arrangement.
