Full Training as a Qualified Maintenance Technician for Freight Wagon Brakes III

  • Fundamentals of braking technology – Structure and function of brake systems in rail transport.
  • Physical fundamentals – Friction, braking forces, and technical relationships.
  • Mechanical brake components – Function, maintenance, and typical damage patterns.
  • Pneumatic brake components – Control and maintenance.
  • Direct and indirect brakes – Applications and differences.
  • Three-pressure system – Structure, function, and practical use.
  • Brake markings – Meaning and correct implementation.
  • Applicable regulations – Important rules and standards for brake maintenance.
  • Different maintenance levels – Requirements and testing methods.
  • Deadlines and scope of brake revisions 0–3 – Overview and execution.
  • Brake test according to UIC MB 543-1 – Content and execution.
  • Brake revisions according to VPI EMG 07 – Requirements and practical implementation.
  • Brake revisions according to DB specifications – Testing processes and special features.

After passing the exam and designation, participants are authorized to independently perform brake inspections and brake revisions Br 0 to Br 3 on all certified brake types.

To deepen the content, approximately 40% of the course consists of practical training directly on various freight wagons with corresponding brake test devices. Theory and practice are optimally combined for maximum learning efficiency and practical application.

    Staff who independently carry out Br0 to BR3 brake inspection on vehicles with conventional braking systems and types
  • Admission Requirements:
    At least 3 months of practical work in the maintenance of braking equipment on rail vehicles or, as an alternative, the Rail Training Event (VRT) 300 approval module and knowledge of the respective national language, spoken and written, to the required extent
  • Duration:
    8 days, 64 learning units of 45 minutes
